Duties
- Revamp the existing internal systems by transforming legacy technologies including Java applets, Oracle Forms and Reports into Java Spring Boot microservices with ReactJS frontend
- Migrate Oracle database to MySQL and convert Oracle Reports to Jasper Reports using modern web architecture
- Assist System Analysts in analyzing existing legacy systems, collecting user requirements, system analysis and design for migration to modern web architecture
- Assist System Analysts in reviewing the technical architecture to enhance the proposed systems on new technologies including containerization, microservices, and DevOps with CI/CD pipelines
- Assist System Analysts in planning migration strategies including data migration, system integration and risk assessment
- Provide delivery work including system redesign, full-stack application development (backend and frontend), and database migration
- Perform comprehensive testing including unit tests, integration tests, end-to-end tests, migration testing, and regression testing to ensure system stability during the revamp process
- Compile user acceptance test plans and test cases for both existing functionality preservation and new features, ensuring backward compatibility
- Assist and support in user acceptance tests, provide training on new system features, and manage the transition from legacy to modern systems
- Prepare comprehensive system documentation including technical specifications, API documentation, user manuals, and system administration guides
- Support all phases of the system revamp life-cycle (including legacy system analysis, requirements specification, system redesign, programming, testing, training, documentation, implementation and maintenance)
- Assure the quality of deliverables through code reviews and automated testing
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree awarded by a post-secondary institution in Hong Kong, including but not limited to the eight University Grants Committee funded universities in Hong Kong, or a bachelor's degree awarded by an overseas university or a polytechnic in the UK, the USA, Canada, New Zealand or Australia; or an accredited associate degree or a higher diploma in information technology from a Hong Kong or overseas tertiary education institute; or
- An accredited associate degree or a higher diploma from a Hong Kong or overseas tertiary education institute in subjects other than information technology; or
- A diploma from a Hong Kong or overseas tertiary education institute (only the diploma awarded after the said institute is duly registered as a tertiary education institute will be counted); or
- Level 3 or equivalent or above in five subjects, including English Language, in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE), or overseas equivalent; or
- Grade E or above in two subjects at Advanced Level in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) and Level 3 / Grade C or above in three other subjects, including English Language (Syllabus B before 2007), in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or overseas equivalent and
- At least 3 years' post-qualification experience in the development & implementation of I.T. projects;
- At least 2 years' relevant post-qualification experience in the computing field;
- At least 2 years' solid hands-on Java application development experience using MySQL and variousdevelopment tools and frameworks (such as Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, Maven, Docker and Git)
- Proficient in Java, ReactJS, TypeScript, JavaScript ES6+, SQL, and other modern web technologies
- Previous experience in one or more of the following areas is an added advantage:
- System revamp projects;-Resource and cost management system
- Database migration(e.g. Oracle to MySQL)
- Report conversion(e.g. Oracle Reports to Jasper Reports)
- Microservices architecture(e.g. Java Spring Boot)
- ReactJS frontend development
- API development and integration
- Docker and containerization;-DevOps with CI/CD pipelines
- Testing automation and quality assurance
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, independent and capable to work under pressure.
- The job requires the following mandatory skills:
- 2 years x Java Application Framework (e.g. Struts (Apache)), JavaScript Programming, JAVA Programming, SQL Server Reporting Services and Web Analytics Service
