Duties

  • To provide IT helpdesk service in remote offices of Government Laboratory (GL)
  • To install hardware, software and security patches/updates on PCs and notebooks
  • To assist in the setup and configuration of IT equipment in GL
  • To assist in the setup and configuration of IT equipment for the implementation of Central Electronic Recordkeeping System (Central ERKS)
  • To assist in the setup of IT facilities in new offices of GL
  • To provide IT advice and support service in GL, which includes IT helpdesk, remedial and miscellaneous IT support services (including but not limit to Departmental Portal, e-Leave, VPN, Wi-Fi service), central network monitoring, trouble shooting, etc. so that all computer users in GL could carry out their duties smoothly by using the computer systems
  • To maintain the Service Desk Support Ticket log
  • To assist to maintain the Computer Operation Procedures Manual

Requirements

  • Level 2 or equivalent or above in five subjects, including Chinese Language and English Language, in the HKDSE, OR
  • Level 2 / Grade E or above in five subjects, including Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B before 2007), in the HKCEE, OR
  • Diploma/Higher Diploma/Degree holder in Computer Science or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of working experience as a Senior IT Assistant
  • Strong knowledge in Windows servers, Outlook Mail System, and wireless and mobile services
  • Solid experience in providing IT advice, helpdesk and support service that covers hardware, software, applications, packages, networks, servers, special devices, system documentation, communication lines and equipment
  • Experience in providing LAN administration jobs, maintenance, trouble shooting, support services and ad-hoc services to users to ensure network and systems' reliable and satisfactory operations to meet service level requirements
  • Proven experience in helpdesk support and PC support
  • Knowledge in internet firewall support, remote access servers, virtual private network, various network, IT security, and security risk assessment is desirable
  • Communication skills in dealing with vendors and users
  • Experience in administration and technical support of Centrally Managed Messaging Platform (CMM) is preferred
  • The job requires the following mandatory skills:
    • 2 years x Anti-Virus Technology, PC LAN Support, Windows 7/8/10, Windows Server 2008/2012, Wireless and Mobile, Client Service, Helpdesk Call Handling Technique and Vendor Management
