Duties

  • Lead the technical delivery, design, and implementation of VMware infrastructure projects, enabling new platform features and capabilities (e.g., vSAN architecture, Tanzu containerised deployments, and Aria automation workflows)
  • Engineer and optimise the highly virtualised VMware environment, providing advanced troubleshooting and architectural guidance for Windows and Linux operating systems, delegating routine daily maintenance to operational teams
  • Manage end-to-end project delivery for major infrastructure upgrades and site preparation for Data Centre relocation, including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and vendor coordination
  • Implement, test, and maintain DR plans using the Stretched Cluster, and oversee the strategic design of system backup and recovery operations using Veeam Backup & Replication
  • Design and apply strict security controls, perform server hardening, and implement remediation measures to ensure the IT infrastructure complies with government IT security policies (e.g., SRAA, DPO G3 S17)
  • Manage Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Reverse Proxy configurations, VMware vCenter certificates, and data encryption technologies (Data-at-Rest and Data-in-Transit)
  • Develop and maintain complex automated scripts (e.g., PowerShell, CMD, Excel VBA) to streamline daily operations, system health monitoring, and reporting for use by the wider infrastructure team
  • Update and maintain comprehensive system design documents, operation procedures, drill plans, contingency plans, technical reports, and user manuals
  • Assist in tendering operations, from drafting technical tender specifications to tender evaluation and award for government procurement
  • Ensure all project deliverables are completed on time and meet high-quality standards
  • Perform any other IT-related duties and services as assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

  • Degree or Higher diploma in computer subjects or related disciplines
  • Minimum 8 years of post-qualification information technology experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar capacity, specifically focusing on IT infrastructure architectural design, implementation, and advanced technical support
  • Holding a valid VMware Certified Professional - VMware Cloud Foundation (VCP-VCF) Administration certification is an advantage
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on expertise with VMware enterprise technologies, including the configuration and management of VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, and Virtual SAN (vSAN)
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of practical experience with VMware Aria Suite for cloud management/automation, and VMware Tanzu for containerized application deployment
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in both Linux and Windows system administration, including server hardening, patching, and performance tuning
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in enterprise backup operations and Disaster Recovery (DR) planning, including Stretched Cluster implementation
  • Proven experience with Veeam Backup & Replication, including backup system upgrades, new feature enablement, and implementation within a VMware vSphere environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of government IT security standards, frameworks, and Information Security Management, with experience implementing security controls and remediation measures in virtualized environments
  • Hands-on experience with VMware data encryption technologies (Data-at-Rest and Data-in-Transit encryption) and familiarity with IT security scanning tools
  • Knowledge of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), including Reverse Proxy and VMware vCenter certificate management
  • Proficiency in TCP/IP and VLAN/LAN switching configurations within VMware environments
  • Hands-on script programming experience for automation and administration (e.g., PowerShell, CMD, and Excel VBA)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues
  • Creative, analytical, self-initiative, responsible, and well-organized, with a strong commitment to project deadlines and delivering high-quality work
  • The job requires the following mandatory skills:

    • 3 years x System Backup with Bightstor ArcServe, System Backup Operation, Data/File Backup Technology, Disaster Recovery Planning, Linux System Administration, Technical Architectural Support and Windows Server 2008/2012
    • 2 years x Data Encryption Technology, Internet Firewall Technical Support, Networking, Network & System Management, Storage Area Network, Experience in Managing Government Projects and Vendor Management
    • 1 year x Public Key Infrastructure, Security Risk Assessment, TCP/IP, VBA, Virtual LAN/LAN Switching and Helpdesk Call Handling Technique
