Duties

The work location is located in Data Centre of Hong Kong Central Library, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. Most of internal computerized applications, public applications, the major network and system infrastructure, etc. are housed inside the location. The equipment in the work location including network equipment, SAN equipment, UNIX/LINUX/Windows servers, data backup equipment, etc. Project to provide daily support services including but not limited to equipment health checking, maintenance services working with various maintenance contractors, backup tape management, equipment hosting management, incident / fault notification and reporting. Due to the possible change of Work location, reserves the right to redeploy the man-resources to other Work location(s), such as Shatin Data Centre (STDC) or Cheung Sha Wan Data Centre (CSWDC).
To operate computer and associated equipment/facilities according to prescribed standards and procedures; monitor their performance; and perform routine maintenance.
To prepare jobs according to prescribed procedures and ensure their successful completion, check completeness and ensure high qualities of computer output.
To fulfil logging and administrative reporting requirements; assist in preparing statistics and reports.
To keep stock and monitor stock level of computer supplies.
To update and maintain inventory records of computer hardware; perform inventory checking on equipment; and maintain procedure manuals and documentation.
To perform on-the-spot trouble shooting works.
To check result of processing, identify system malfunctions and initiate corrective actions.
To monitor progress of jobs running in machines and maintain proper logs and records.
To record and report machine utilization and failure incidents.
To monitor and advise on environmental matters of computer room and related area.
To monitor the installation and operation of environmental facilities in computer room.
To work in shift duty including weekends / public holidays on roster, and on-call duty basis.
To perform any other duties as assigned by senior officers.

Requirements

Level 2 or equivalent or above in five subjects, including Chinese Language and English Language, in the HKDSE, OR
Level 2 / Grade E or above in five subjects, including Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B before 2007), in the HKCEE, OR
Diploma/Higher Diploma/Degree holder in Computer Science or equivalent
At least 2 years of relevant post-qualification working experience
At least 2 years of working experience as an IT Assistant
Have at least 1 year of working experience in network operation.
Have at least 1 year of experience in operating Windows 10/Windows Server 2012 or above.
Have at least 1 year of working experience in Customer Relations.
Experience in basic UNIX will be an advantage.
Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; and
Good communication skill is required.
The job requires the following mandatory skills:
- 2 years x Windows 7/8/10
- 1 year x Internet/ Intranet, Windows Server 2008/2012
