The Network System Engineer shall be responsible for:

• Network management including but not limited to maintenance and management of firewalls, VPN, Wi-Fi systems, server rooms, updating of DNS, assignment of IP addresses/subnets, etc.
  
• Network monitoring including but not limited to the monitoring of all network equipment, review of system event logs, firewall logs, network utilization, etc.
  
• Troubleshooting and handling of network incidents as well as handling and/or follow up of IT security or vulnerabilities issues
  
• Provide network and IT related consultation and advices to users
  
• Implementation of network revamp or network improvement projects
  
• Provide on-site support services at HKO offices including the HKO Headquarters, HKO remote offices, and other site offices (such as Airport Traffic Tower, King's Park Meteorological Station, etc.) of HKO
  
• Handle support tasks such as network cabling work, replacement of UPS battery, etc.
  
• Handle renewal of hardware and software maintenance and/or subscription
  
• Provide regular reporting of network performance
  
• 7x24 standby support including on-site standby support may be required during severe weather warning / condition (such as when typhoon signal no. 8 or higher is hosted)

• Higher Diploma/Degree holder in Computer Science or equivalent
  
• At least 4 years of relevant post-qualification working experience
  
• At least 3 years of working experience as a Programmer
  
• Good understanding of routing protocols and switching technologies including but not limited to VPN, TCP, IP, Spanning Tree, OSPF, BGP, DNS, VLAN, NAT, PAT, QoS, etc.
  
• Strong PC hardware and software trouble shooting skills
  
• Cisco certification(s) (CCNA/CCNP) is required
  
• Working experience with various types of networking equipment including but not limited to fiber optics, Cat5e/Cat6 ethernet cables, SFPs, various types of connectors is a must
  
• Solid working experience in administration of Linux / Unix platforms is required
  
• Solid working experience in administration of Microsoft Active Directory is required
  
• The job requires the following mandatory skills:
  
  • 3.5 years x Networking and Network & System Management
    
  • 3 years x CISCO IOS Software & CISCO Products, Internet Firewall Technical Support, Internet/ Intranet, Network Design, Router Configuration, Virtual Private Network and Wide Area Network
    
  • 2 years x Work experience with/in the Government
    
  • 20 months x Helpdesk Call Handling Technique
